Grant’s cooking style is largely inspired by his Grandmothers, ‘Nanny Marse’ and ‘Nanny Jack’ who taught him how to cook at a young age using fresh meat and vegetables from their nearby family farms in Nicholls Rivulet and Lower Wattle Grove. This is where Grant’s ‘paddock-to-plate’ approach towards cooking originated, and is the reason why he is so passionate about cooking with fresh and local ingredients.

Grant learnt about his family’s Indigenous history from ‘Nanny Marse’, who encouraged him to be proud of who he is and where his family came from. As a proud Palawa man, Grant finds great pleasure and pride in sharing his Indigenous heritage and stories with younger generations.
